Having conversations
Sometimes a simple ‘how are you’ can be enough to encourage a conversation about somebody’s mental health and wellbeing. But sometimes it might take a little more.
The resources below have been designed to help you have conversations about mental health, including to colleagues you might be worried about. We have included a link to Mind Charity’s Wellness Action Plan, which is a great tool to share with staff, so that they can start to think about how they might talk about their own mental health and wellbeing.
We recognise that talking about your mental health, and having reflective conversations, can feel daunting so we recommend that you complete our free e-learning module linked to below: What's on your plate? Reflective conversations for education staff.

This course aims to provide you with a simple, practical way to explore how reflection can work for you, which is free at point of access thanks to the generous support of the Welsh Government.
This e-learning is not intended to replace or replicate the depth of process that is provided by formal relational or clinical supervision, coaching or action learning. Instead, it is a response to the identified need of many educators to reflect on their work and its impact on their wellbeing safely, without fear or judgement.
